Iqra Rab Nawaz's Story
Iqra Rab Nawaz is a resilient 16-year-old resident of Rahim Yar Khan needs eye surgery. Iqra has been facing a challenging eye condition called Conjunctival Keratinization, which has been progressively reducing her vision in both eyes. After seeking medical advice, the doctor recommended a bilateral Symblepherectomy with an amniotic membrane graft and conjunctival conformer to address the issue.
Eight years ago, Iqra experienced a high fever, which was followed by a rash that appeared in both of her eyes. This severe eye infection eventually led to conjunctival opacity in both eyes, causing a gradual decline in her vision. Despite undergoing, two eye surgeries in Rahim Yar Khan, her condition has persisted, necessitating the prescribed surgical procedure for her sight restoration.
Iqra and her family reside in a small brick house in a village in Rahim Yar Khan. Their home, covering just five marlas, consists of two rooms and is shared with her parents and four siblings. Her father supports the family as a vegetable vendor, earning approximately 18,000 PKR per month. However, as the sole breadwinner, his income is stretched thin, and he is unable to afford the expenses associated with Iqra’s surgery.
In addition to their financial struggles, the family also faces the burden of utility bills amounting to 4,000 PKR and a loan payable to 30,000 PKR. These financial constraints have made it even more challenging for them to provide the necessary eye surgery for Iqra.
Iqra said it in despair:
“Though my vision may be dimmed, my hope burns bright. I dream of a day when I can see the world with clarity. With your kindness and support, I believe I can overcome this obstacle.”
Iqra’s family contacted Transparent Hands to register her case. Deeply moved by her story, we at Transparent Hands are steadfast in our commitment to stand by her and provide the support she requires on this transformative journey. Your generosity will bring hope and healing to her life.
