Donate for Gul Muhammad’s Total Knee Replacement
Gul Muhammad 's Story
Gul Muhammad has been suffering from severe osteoarthritis for the past few years. The doctor has advised total knee replacement surgery. It is an expensive surgery and his family is unable to afford it. We urge you to donate for Gul Muhammad’s Total Knee Replacement and make his future pain-free.
Gul Muhammad, a 75-year-old resident of Mardan, has been suffering from right knee osteoarthritis for the last five years. Osteoarthritis (OA) of the knee occurs when the cartilage in the knee joint breaks down. The knee bones rub together, resulting in friction, pain, stiffness, and swelling. Both his knee pain and swelling have gotten worse over time. His son took him to a local hospital. After running some diagnostic tests and a thorough evaluation, the doctor advised him to undergo bilateral total knee replacement. It is a surgical procedure that involves cutting away damaged bone and cartilage from the kneecap and replacing it with an artificial joint (prosthesis). The doctor performed his first surgery for right total knee replacement in 2021. Recently, he revisited the doctor and was advised to undergo total knee replacement on the left side..
He lives in a small house with his wife and two children. His son is responsible for taking care of the family’s financial needs. He earns just PKR 38,000 per month. He is not financially stable enough to afford the surgical expenses. Gul Muhammad expressed his distress in the following words:
“It is hard to sleep and wake up with a painful and swollen knee each day. I request you to come forward and donate for my surgery to help me get rid of this pain.”
His son contacted Transparent Hands to register his case. We need your support in the form of donations to make Gul’s total knee replacement surgery possible. Gul and his family will be grateful to you even if you make a small contribution. Come forward and donate for Gul Muhammad’s Total Knee Replacement as much as you can.

Gul Muhammad 's Story
Haji Gul Muhammad, a 75-year-old man from Mardan, had been suffering from severe knee pain and swelling for five years. He was receiving symptomatic treatment but only got temporary relief. Over time, his condition worsened and he became unable to walk without support. He consulted a doctor, who ran an X-ray in addition to some medical tests and diagnosed Gul with Osteoarthritis of both knee joints. To restore his ability to walk, the doctor recommended bilateral knee replacement surgery. However, Gul Muhammad didn’t have enough money to pay for the surgery.
Gul was unable to work as he was confined to bed due to his painful knee condition. He couldn’t even stand up, walk, and carry out his routine tasks. His son is the sole breadwinner of the family and has a meager monthly income that covers their basic needs only. Gul’s first surgery for a right total knee replacement was done through Transparent Hands in June 2021. Now, he came for the second time and asked us for help. Moved by his plea, we registered his case.
On 16th August 2024, Gul Muhammad was admitted to Zia Darman Hospital in Mardan. The surgery was scheduled for 19th August 2024. Dr. Aiman Zia, an experienced surgeon performed his bilateral knee replacement surgery. She carefully managed the procedure and made the surgery successful.
Gul was hospitalized for four days and received post-operative care and essential medications. Gul Muhammad said with tears of happiness in his eyes:
“This surgery was just a distant dream for me but you made it a reality through your support. I am at a loss for words to describe my happiness. I can’t believe I can stand up and walk now. Thanks for helping me!”
Through the successful knee replacement surgery, Gul is on his way toward recovery and getting back his mobility and independence. We couldn’t help Gul in his life-altering surgery but you made this mission successful with your contributions. You have empowered him to live a healthy life and face the challenges of life with courage and enthusiasm.
