Before we explain the gory details of Azra Parveen’s ailments, we want you to know that no medical jargon can explain the immense pain of Azra Parveen. Therefore, we request please donate for Azra’s subtotal thyroidectomy and help us ease her life.

Fifty years old Azra Parveen hails from a small village near Okara district. For the last six years, Azra has been suffering from excessive swelling in her throat region which increased over time. At first, the doctor gave her medication for symptomatic relief. But later, it was diagnosed as Multinodular Goiter. Multinodular goitre is an enlarged thyroid gland on the front of the front of the neck where there are many lumps (nodules) that appear within it. This is the most common thyroid gland disorder.

The doctor has advised Azra to undergo a Subtotal Thyroidectomy. Subtotal Thyroidectomy is a surgical procedure in which the majority of the thyroid gland is removed. However, the surgeon leaves some part of the thyroid tissue to achieve a normal thyroid function.

Unfortunately, Azra cannot afford the hefty cost of her surgery. Azra works as a teacher in a primary school and her husband works on daily wages. When combined, their earnings hardly make a total of PKR 40,000 per month. With a family of seven to raise, they are in no position to save up for Azra’s surgery. Azra told us:

“I feel so helpless because despite working tirelessly for hours, I get a meagre salary. I have been suffering from this monstrous disease for the last six years. At first, I took medicines for temporary relief but now surgery is crucial for me. Whoever is reading this, I request you to please help me.”

Azra Parveen's Story

Azra Parveen , a fifty years old woman, living in Depalpur, Okara, had a lump on the front of her neck. She was enduring extreme pain for the last six years. After consulting a doctor, she was diagnosed with a Multinodular goiter. Post diagnosis she was advised to go for a Subtotal Thyroidectomy. For this procedure, she was sent to Akram Medical Complex for her surgery. Her Subtotal Thyroidectomy was performed on 30-08-2021 by Dr. Ahmed Fawad. She was discharged the following day in a satisfactory condition. Azra is now living a comfortable life, without pain
