Ashfaq, a 50-year-old resident of Chakwal, fractured his left hip in a road accident four years ago. The doctor treated his hip bone fracture with surgery and used metal surgical screws for fixation. Recently, he has started feeling severe pain and swelling. He went to the doctor at the local hospital, and they ran some diagnostic tests and X-rays. The doctor diagnosed him with Avascular Necrosis of the left femoral neck. It is the death of bone tissue due to a loss of blood supply. It primarily affects the femur bone, and if it goes untreated, it may collapse the joint. The doctor advised total hip replacement surgery on the left side after removing his metal surgical screws.
