For the last four years, Anum Rameez had been suffering from severe pain in her right hip. After consultation and detailed examination, the doctor advised her to have hip replacement surgery.

Hip replacement surgery is a procedure in which a doctor surgically removes a painful hip joint with arthritis and replaces it with an artificial joint often made from metal and plastic components. It happens when all other treatment options have failed to provide adequate pain relief. Anum Rameez underwent hip replacement surgery two years ago. But, unfortunately, the hip component of the plant got dislocated. Therefore, the doctors have advised her to undergo a redoing of the hip replacement surgery. 

Unfortunately, Anum Rameez cannot afford the hefty cost of hip replacement surgery. Anum Rameez’s husband works at a private job and hardly manages to earn PKR 15,000 per month. With a family of four to raise in this income, he is in no position to arrange for his wife’s surgery. Anum Rameez told us:

“Two years ago, when I had the surgery, I thought everything would get better now. Little did I know that it would complicate things even more for me. Now, the pain is so immense that I cannot even stand up on my own.”
