Cure Maryam’s Heart Defects with Surgery
Maryam Bibi Khair Muhammad's Story
Maryam Bibi, a 10-year-old girl from Dera Ghazi Khan, has been experiencing breathlessness and chest discomfort since birth. Her skin often turns blue and she becomes tired easily. Maryam is not growing properly and her social life has also been impacted. Her parents took her to a local hospital and consulted a doctor. After running some medical tests, the doctor diagnosed her with moderate secundum ASD and Tetralogy of Fallot (TOF) – a condition characterized by four heart abnormalities present since birth. To correct these defects, the doctor advised TOF repair surgery. Unfortunately, the surgical cost is beyond her family’s financial reach.
Maryam’s quality of life has been badly impacted due to her heart illness. If she doesn’t get the surgery soon, her condition may cause life-threatening complications and even lead to death.
Maryam lives in a modest mud house with her five family members. Her father, the sole breadwinner in the family, works as a daily wage laborer and earns just PKR 15000 per month. With an insufficient monthly income, managing the expenses of six family members, utility bills as well as groceries is a significant challenge for Maryam’s father. The cost of the surgery is overwhelming and they can’t pay for it. During this time of need, Maryam’s family decided to reach out to Transparent Hands. Maryam’s parents said in despair:
“Maryam wants to live fully without the constant discomfort that has taken over her life. Your generosity can give her that chance, helping her heal and find joy in life. Our financial hardships don’t allow us to pay for her surgery. We request you to please save our beloved daughter’s life.”
Maryam’s family is counting on your kindness. With your donations, she can undergo surgery and get back to being a healthy and active child. Your support can prevent complications and give her the chance for a normal childhood.
Come forward and make a significant difference in Maryam’s life.
