Change Hadiya Rizwan’s Life with Open-Heart Surgery
Hadiya Rizwan's Story
Hadiya Rizwan, a 5-year-old girl from Lahore, has been experiencing breathlessness, chest discomfort, and fatigue since birth. Hadiya is battling with life and is not growing properly like other kids of her age and looks frail. She becomes tired easily, affecting her ability to engage in physical activities with peers. Concerned about her condition, her parents received a medical consultation from a doctor, who conducted some medical tests and diagnosed Hadiya with Atrial Septal Defect (ASD) – an abnormal opening between the upper heart’s chambers, Right Pulmonary Artery (RPA) stenosis, and Right Ventricular Volume Overload (RVVO). To give Hadiya a chance at normal life, the doctor recommended open-heart surgery for ASD closure. Unfortunately, the financial strain of the surgery is beyond Hadiya’s family’s financial reach.
If she doesn’t undergo the surgery soon, her heart condition will continue to worsen and become life-threatening. She will not be able to beat the disease and may lose her life.
Hadiya lives in a two-room brick house with her five family members. She has two siblings, one is younger than her and the other one is a student. Her father, the sole breadwinner in the family, works as a security guard and earns PKR 35,000 per month. With this insufficient monthly income, managing the utility bills adding up to PKR 7000 monthly, educational expenses of PKR 4000, as well as grocery expenses is significantly challenging for the family. They have no insurance and no savings at all to pay for the costly surgery. In such a challenging time, Hadiya’s family turned to Transparent Hands and asked us to help.
“It breaks our hearts to ask for help, but we don’t know how else to give our daughter a healthy life. Her life has become miserable, we can’t watch her struggle to survive each day of her life. Your support is our only hope. Kindly save Hadiya’s life.”
With this surgery, Hadiya’s heart can function more efficiently. Consequently, she will be able to engage fully in daily activities and lead a normal, healthy life. We are reaching out to ask for your support. Hadiya’s life depends on this surgery, and with your help, we can make it possible. Your contribution will bring Hadiya one step closer to the life-saving treatment.

Hadiya Rizwan's Story
Hadiya Rizwan, a 5-year-old girl from Lahore, had been experiencing breathlessness and chest discomfort since birth. She couldn’t gain weight properly and any mild to moderate physical activity made her fatigued and she often gasped for air. Her parents took her to a local hospital and consulted a doctor, who ran some lab tests and diagnosed Hadiya with Atrial Septal Defect (ASD), Right Pulmonary Artery (RPA) stenosis, and Right Ventricular Volume Overload (RVVO). To correct the defects in her heart, the doctor advised ASD closure surgery. However, the cost of the surgery was beyond her family’s financial capacity.
Hadiya lived in a modest house with her five family members. Her father, the sole breadwinner of the family, was a security guard and earned just PKR 35000 per month. With this meager monthly income, it was quite challenging for them to even manage their household expenses. Hadiya’s parents were extremely concerned about her surgery as her health was deteriorating day by day and they didn’t have enough means to pay for her surgery. That’s when their neighbor told them about Transparent Hands. Hadiya’s family reached out to us and asked for help. Upon learning about the critical nature of her situation, we swiftly registered her case.
On 12th September 2024, Hadiya was admitted to the University of Lahore Teaching Hospital. The surgery took place on 13th September 2024. Dr. Salman Shah skillfully managed her case and performed her ASD closure surgery, giving hope and relief to Hadiya. She stayed in the hospital for four days under critical observation by the medical staff. After receiving post-operative care, she was discharged in stable condition from the hospital on 16th September 2024.
Hadiya’s parents were extremely happy and said:
“Hadiya’s surgery through your support is the answer to our prayers. Our pleasure knows no boundaries. Our daughter can finally spend a life where she no longer has to face any complications. We are immensely thankful to you for helping us. You truly changed her life.”
Hadiya’s life relied upon this surgery and all this happened just because of you. Now, she can play, run, and grow like other kids and can have a happy childhood. Her family is incredibly grateful to you for making a positive change in Hadiya’s life.
