Change Azra’s Life with Tonsillectomy
Azra Bibi's Story
Azra, a 14-year-old girl from Karachi, has been experiencing repeated episodes of sore throat for two years. Activities like speaking and swallowing have become increasingly challenging for her. Due to her illness, she finds it hard to focus on her studies and carry out other routine tasks. Worried about her condition, she consulted a doctor at a nearby hospital. The doctor ran some medical tests and diagnosed her with chronic tonsillitis. It is an inflammation of the tonsils in the upper part of the throat. To alleviate her pain and discomfort, the doctor has advised tonsillectomy. Unfortunately, the cost of the surgery is overwhelming for her family.
If Azra’s condition is left untreated, her chronic tonsillitis may lead to tonsillar enlargement, breathing problems while sleeping, and the spread of the infection to other tissues.
Azra’s father and brother are daily wage laborers. Together, they manage to earn only PKR 35,000 per month. With four school-going children to support along with his wife, it is increasingly challenging for him to make ends meet. A significant portion of his income goes towards utility bills of PKR 6000, children’s school fees amounting to PKR 1500, in addition to food and other living expenses. The family’s financial situation is stretched thin and they simply can’t afford the overwhelming cost of the surgery.
Azra’s parents said in despair:
“Our beloved daughter has been suffering from an illness for a long time. It breaks our hearts when we see her in this condition. We can’t do anything for her. Surgery is the only way to relieve her suffering. Please, help Azra regain her strength.”
Azra relies on your kindness and she needs surgery to breathe and swallow properly. With your support, she can have a future filled with possibilities. We ask you to be generous and donate for Azra’s much-needed surgery.
