Bushra Awaits Surgery for Chronic Dacryocystitis
Bushra Latif's Story
Bushra Latif, a 36-year-old woman from Hyderabad, has been suffering from an eye condition for the past three years. Her vision is clouded by a constant watery discharge from her right eye, often accompanied by redness and irritation. After years of discomfort, Bushra finally received medical attention. Following a detailed examination, the doctor diagnosed her with Chronic Dacryocystitis of the right eye – a condition in which the tear drainage system is blocked, leading to infection and inflammation. The recommended treatment is a Right Dacryocystorhinostomy (DCR), a surgical procedure to relieve the blockage and restore normal tear drainage. However, Bushra can’t pay for her treatment.
What began as a mild issue has now become a painful and chronic condition that affects Bushra’s daily life, especially in the school where she works as a teacher. Without this surgery, her condition may worsen, potentially leading to severe infections and further vision issues.
Bushra’s life hasn’t been easy. As a divorced woman, she has faced her share of struggles, raising her son on her own. Her son is currently studying in school. Bushra earns a modest salary of PKR 5000 as a teacher, and her siblings also contribute to the household. Their combined monthly income is PKR 25,000 per month. They live in a rented house and barely manage to pay PKR 8000 for house rent, along with PKR 2000 for utility bills. With such limited means and growing medical needs, Bushra finds herself unable to afford the cost of the required surgery.
Bushra said in despair:
“I’ve been living with this pain for years, and it’s affecting everything—my work, my focus, and even how I care for my son. I just want relief from this discomfort, to see clearly again, and to continue supporting my child.”
You can become the light in Bushra’s life by helping her receive the much-needed treatment. Your generous contributions can ease her pain, restore her health, and bring hope to her and her son.
