Brighten Mahnoor’s World with Eye Surgery
Mahnoor Mazhar's Story
Mahnoor Mazhar, a 20-year-old girl from Multan, has been suffering from short-sightedness and blurry vision for four years. She had a traumatic injury to her left eye, and she underwent eye surgery for it. Now, she experiences blurry vision and struggles to see the things around her clearly. She went to a nearby hospital and consulted a doctor, who performed some medical tests and diagnosed her with a left eye Traumatic Cataract. It is the clouding of the lens of the eye due to blunt trauma that damages the lens fibers. Due to her deteriorating eyesight, she feels disconnected from the world and feels isolated and frustrated. Her doctor recommended left Phaco + IOL surgery to restore her vision. However, the surgical cost is out of her financial reach.
Delaying this much-needed surgery may lead to poor visual outcomes and cause blindness in the long run. Mahnoor often bumps into things while walking around the home and performing routine tasks is challenging for her.
Mahnoor lives in a small house with her parents and seven siblings. Her sisters are married and one brother is a mechanic. He is the sole breadwinner in the family and earns just PKR 25000 per month. This monthly income is insufficient to cover the living expenses of eight siblings. Their financial situation is further challenged by the cost of utility bills (PKR 10,000), as well as groceries. Due to their financial constraints, affording to pay for the surgery is impossible for them. During this challenging time, Mahnoor’s family reached out to Transparent Hands and asked us for assistance.
Mahnoor expressed her heartfelt plea as follows:
“My vision is fading fast due to cataract and without this surgery, I’ll lose it completely. I want a life without constant struggles. Please help me to see the world clearly.”
Every day is a struggle, yet Mahnoor holds on to hope. We are committed to helping Mahnoor and need your contributions to do so. Open your hearts and be a light in her darkest hour.
