Azra Bibi's Story

Azra Bibi, a 59-year-old woman from Lahore, has been experiencing cloudy and dim vision. She went to a doctor, who diagnosed her with a cataract in her left eye and recommended Phaco + IOL surgery to restore her vision.

The Cataract has cast a shadow over her vision and now she struggles to see things clearly. She faces extreme challenges while doing activities such as walking in the dark and recognizing faces. Due to the reduced vision, it has become difficult for her to walk around the home without bumping into things.

Azra’s life has been marked by significant challenges due to the limitations caused by her visual impairment. Basic household tasks such as doing laundry, cooking meals, and maintaining the home have become troublesome due to cloudy vision. Azra longs to see the beauty of the things around her but cannot afford to pay for the necessary cataract surgery. She lives in a modest two-room brick house along with her four family members. Her husband, the sole breadwinner in the family, makes PKR 40,000 per month. He struggles to cover the daily living expenses and the cost of utility bills, which amount to PKR 6000. Due to their financial hardships, they are unable to afford the much-needed surgery.

Azra’s family turned to Transparent Hands and asked for help.

Azra Bibi said with tears in her eyes:

“I never imagined that I would suffer like this. Due to my visual impairment, I have lost touch with life and my decreased vision has made my world dark. I need support from donors to undergo the surgery. Please help me.”

Transparent Hands aims to help Azra in this time of difficulty. We request all donors to support her. Your contribution will bring back colors into her life.

Through this cataract surgery, her dream to see the world clearly will be fulfilled. Together, we can bring back joy and hope in her life. Let’s help Azra!

Azra Bibi's Story

Azra Bibi, a 59-year-old woman from Lahore, was suffering from short-sightedness and blurry vision. Upon consultation with a doctor, she was diagnosed with a cataract in her left eye. To restore her vision, the doctor recommended Phaco+IOL surgery. However, affording the cost of the surgery was beyond her family’s financial abilities as they were already facing financial hardships. They have a meager monthly income and they live in a modest home. Azra’s life was badly affected by her visual impairment. She used to bump into things while walking and carrying out routine tasks became significantly challenging. She desperately needed the surgery but was unable to pay for it. If left untreated, the cataract could have become worse and increased the risk of glaucoma and even blindness. During this time of need, she contacted Transparent Hands and asked us for help. After listening to her concerns, we promptly registered the case. Her surgery was scheduled for 29th July 2024 at Life Hospital Lahore. An experienced surgeon, Dr. Shaheer skillfully managed her case and restored her eyesight. She said with deep emotions, “I never thought I’d ever be able to see clearly again. I am forever grateful to those who made this happen.” The patient’s family is incredibly grateful to you for supporting them and making her surgery possible through Transparent Hands. Your support has brought light back into her life. Not only did you restore her vision but also allowed him to spend her life with independence and dignity. They will never forget your generosity.
