Anum Bibi's Story

Anum Bibi, a 30-year-old woman from Karachi, is anxiously awaiting the birth of her fourth child. While pregnancy should be a time of joy, for Anum, it is overshadowed by fear and uncertainty. She is over 27 weeks pregnant and she faces a challenging situation. She has a history of three previous C-sections. Therefore, her doctor has now advised that she must undergo another C-section for safe delivery. However, the cost of the C-section is out of her family’s reach.

If Anum does not undergo the required C-section, she and her baby may face serious complications. Given her history of three C-sections, a normal delivery may cause significant risks including uterine rupture, excessive bleeding, and fetal distress. These complications can put both her life and her baby’s life in danger.

Anum’s husband works as a laborer, earning just PKR 25,000 per month, which barely covers their daily expenses. They have three children, all of whom attend government schools, with a monthly fee of PKR 1000 per child. Their small house is filled with love, but the financial burden of daily necessities weighs heavily on their shoulders. With PKR 4000 spent on utility bills each month and a loan of PKR 300,000, their financial situation has become overwhelming.
