Muhammad Abdullah's Story

Muhammad Abdullah, a five-year-old resident of Lahore, went through a tragedy two years ago when his house caught fire due to unknown reasons. Abdullah burnt his leg severely. He was rushed to a public hospital and treated. The doctor discharged him with symptomatic treatment. Later on, due to medical negligence and delay in proper treatment his leg muscle contracted. Upon re-consultation and work up, he was diagnosed with right foot Contracture and Hypertrophic scarring. Abdullah was advised for Right Foot Contracture Release along with Full Thickness Skin Grafting (FTSG). Full-thickness skin grafts are made up of epidermis and the whole thickness of the dermis. If FTSG is to be used, a piece of the skin will be cut into the correct size and shape to fit the wound.

Abdullah’s previous surgery of right foot Contracture Release was supported by Transparent Hands. Now he has come to us for his second surgery.

Abdullah’s father works as a laborer and earns just PKR 20,000 a month. They live in a rented house and with a family of four to provide for. It is impossible for Abdullah’s father to afford the hefty cost of this procedure. Abdullah’s father shared his distress with us in the following manner:

Five-year-old Muhammad Abdullah, a resident of Lahore, had a tragic accident two years ago when his house caught fire due to unknown reasons. He sustained burns on his feet. He was rushed to the hospital where he was given symptomatic treatment, but due to medical negligence, contractures developed on his feet. He came to us for help and his first surgery for the left foot was done back in December, 2021. He reached out to us again for his second Surgery for the right foot. Hence, he was sent to Lahore Care Hospital to get his contracture release surgery and FTSG of the right foot done by Dr. Imran on 09-03-2022. He was discharged after two days of hospital stay in a stable condition. Muhammad Abdullah is now recovering.
