Transparent Hands is going to organize a free medical camp to uplift low-income communities in Thatta, Sindh. The city’s healthcare system faces numerous challenges that hinder access to essential medical services. Many residents live in poverty, struggling to afford basic healthcare services which deteriorates their health conditions. We aim to address some common diseases in Thatta by providing various healthcare services including consultations, lab tests, medicines, and treatments.

Challenges:

Thatta is famous for its history and cultural heritage. However, many low-income communities in Thatta experience numerous health issues due to limited accessibility of necessary healthcare services. The absence of regular health check-ups and screenings leads to severe complications, particularly for vulnerable populations such as children and the elderly.

The city’s residents experience numerous water-borne diseases like diarrhea, dysentery, and cholera. Moreover, vector-borne diseases like malaria and various respiratory and gastrointestinal illnesses are also increasingly rising. This situation highlights the need for accessible healthcare solutions in Thatta.

Solution:

To address these pressing issues, a free medical camp will be organized in Thatta. This initiative aims to provide comprehensive healthcare services, including general check-ups, blood tests, and screenings for common health issues. Our dedicated team of healthcare professionals will be there to ensure that every patient receives the attention and care they deserve. Additionally, the camp will include a preventive healthcare session to educate the community about managing one of the common health issues in Thatta. By empowering residents with knowledge, we aim to encourage healthier habits and improve overall community health.

Transparent Hands, with the support of PPAF, Andy Booth, Fidelity Charitable, and the Sindh Community Foundation (SCF), successfully organized a free medical camp and preventive healthcare session to deliver quality healthcare services to underserved patients. The camp was held on December 16, 2024, in Village Siddique Shaikh, UC Gahro, Taluka Gorabari, District Thatta.

Free Consultations, Medicines, and Diagnostic Tests

A total of 870 deserving patients received free consultations from our expert doctors. Medicines, diabetes tests, uric acid tests, hepatitis B & C screenings, cholesterol tests, and blood pressure check-ups were also provided free of charge. Diseases and Treatments

At the free medical camp in Thatta, most of the patients who received consultations were suffering from flu, skin allergies, scabies, fever, diabetes, body pains, cough, and stomach issues. Moreover, free medicines were given to a large number of needy patients.

Preventive Healthcare Session

Our expert doctors held a preventive healthcare session for the attendees at the free medical camp. The session focused on the prevention and management of scabies.

Impact

The free medical camp made a difference in the lives of 870 deserving patients and their families. It provided essential healthcare services to a community in need. From free consultations to medicines and diagnostic services, the camp addressed the health concerns of hundreds of individuals. Patients expressed relief and gratitude for the quality health care they received at no cost.
