Heal Lives in Tharparkar With Free Healthcare
Transparent Hands is going to organize a free medical camp for the underprivileged communities in Tharparkar. Many patients who can’t access essential healthcare facilities will benefit from this medical camp. Our upcoming medical camp will provide free medical check-ups, diagnostic tests, and medicines to improve the quality of life of the needy people in Tharparkar.
Challenges:
Many poor and needy patients face numerous health challenges in Tharparkar. There are limited numbers of public sector hospitals in Tharkarpar and these are usually overwhelmed with patients.
The residents of Tharparkar face numerous health challenges like UTI, malaria, typhoid, scabies, and malnutrition. Diarrhea is also one of the prevalent conditions there. Other common diseases include diabetes and hypertension.
Furthermore, the lack of sufficient healthcare facilities has made it challenging for pregnant women to receive essential prenatal care.
Solution:
To resolve the healthcare issues and to improve the health and well-being of the underserved communities of Tharparkar, we will organize a free medical camp there. By facilitating early detection and timely treatment of health issues, this camp will significantly improve health outcomes and reduce the prevalence of some common diseases. Our highly qualified medical team of doctors, pharmacists, nurses, volunteers, and lab technologists will offer the following free medical services:
· General Check-Ups
· Gynecology Check-Ups
· Eye Check-ups
· Eye Glasses
· Hepatitis B & C Screenings
· Uric Acid Tests
· Cholesterol Tests
· BSR (Blood Sugar) Tests
· Blood Pressure Monitoring
· Preventive Healthcare Session
· Deserving Surgical/Medical procedure cases will be registered
Preventive Healthcare Session:
To educate the underprivileged communities of Tharparkar, we will hold a preventive healthcare session at our free medical camp. The session will focus on the prevention and management of Scabies, as it is one of the common health issues in Tharparkar.
Scabies is caused by tiny mites called Sarcoptes Scabiei that burrow into the skin, leading to intense itching, especially at night. By empowering the community with knowledge, we hope to reduce the prevalence of this disease and promote healthy lifestyles.
Transparent Hands, with the sponsorship of NOWPDP (Network of Organizations Working For People With Disabilities Pakistan), recently arranged a free medical camp and preventive healthcare session to provide quality healthcare to underprivileged patients, including a large number of individuals with disabilities. The free medical camp was held on 23rd September 2024 at Old TB Center, Near Boys Degree College, Islamkot Mor, Mithi, Tharparkar.

Impact
The free medical camp made a difference in the lives of 544 deserving patients.
Hundreds of residents, including women, children, and elderly individuals, benefited from much-needed medical consultations, diagnoses, and treatments for their health issues. The camp provided free healthcare that otherwise often remains out of reach for many people in this impoverished community.
Additionally, the camp included a preventive healthcare session on Scabies, a significant concern due to a lack of awareness. Participants learned about the risk factors, symptoms, and preventive measures for Scabies. It empowered the community with knowledge to improve their quality of life.
By offering both immediate medical relief and health education, the camp positively impacted Tharparkar’s residents and addressed both acute and chronic health challenges.
Medical Camp Team
The medical camp team consisted of 15 members, including 1 supervisor, four doctors (two males and two females), 2 lab technicians, 2 pharmacists, 4 patient registrars, 1 photographer, and 1 driver.
