Challenges in Okara
The residents of Okara face numerous challenges in the health sector. They don’t have adequate hospitals in Okara. The local ones are often overburdened with patients. Therefore, many low-income and vulnerable communities are awaiting crucial treatments, and quality healthcare is inaccessible to them.
Many people are suffering from acute respiratory infections, fever, scabies, peptic ulcer disease, and diarrhea. Hepatitis B and C are also prevalent. These health conditions are significant concerns for the local population in Okara.

On 18th September 2024, Transparent Hands, with the collaboration of the Pakistan Poverty Alleviation Fund (PPAF) and the Association for Gender Awareness and Human Empowerment (AGAHE), organized a free medical camp and preventive healthcare session at Rohela Teje Ka, Tehsil Depalpur, District Okara. The core objective of this camp was to provide quality healthcare to underprivileged communities.
Free Consultations, Medicines, and Diagnostic Tests
A total of 329 deserving patients received free consultations from our expert doctors. General check-ups, medicines, ultrasound scans, blood pressure check-ups, diabetes tests, uric acid tests, hepatitis B & C screenings, and cholesterol tests were provided free of cost. This free medical camp positively impacted the lives of 329 needy patients by addressing the healthcare challenges faced by the local population. Many residents in Okara lack access to regular medical services, making it difficult for them to receive timely treatments for their acute and chronic conditions. This camp provided a critical lifeline by offering free health check-ups, consultations, and medications to needy people.
Moreover, the residents were given the knowledge to adopt preventive healthcare practices for Hepatitis C.
