Muhammad Afzaal is No More With Us
Muhammad Afzaal's Story
Muhammad Afzaal, a 22-year-old resident of Lahore, had suffered from cyanosis, dyspnea, and repeated episodes of chest pain. His parents noticed his deteriorating health at the age of five. They took him to the local hospital. After running some diagnostic tests, the cardiologist diagnosed him with multiple heart defects, including double outlet right ventricular (DORV), large inlet-outlet ventricular septal defect (VSD), and right ventricular outflow tract obstruction (RVOTO). The doctor advised him to undergo open-heart surgery for total correction and pulmonary valve replacement.
At the time, he was not fit for the surgery and was advised to take some medications. A few months ago, he revisited the hospital, and the cardiac surgeon advised him to undergo surgery. In their darkest hour, Muhammad Afzaal’s family turned to Transparent Hands, seeking financial support to make the surgery possible.
He was admitted to Ittefaq Hospital, Lahore, and his operation was performed by Dr. Asim on 21-02-2023. After two weeks of fighting against his failing heart, even with the best care and the hard work of a dedicated medical team, he lost his courageous battle on 16-03-2023, succumbing to a sudden cardiopulmonary arrest. The loss of a brave young man devastated his loved ones, and it saddened the doctors and nurses.
His death has caused unimaginable pain. It is a sad reminder of how short life is and how uncertain our futures can be. As his parents tried to deal with the unthinkable loss of their beloved son, the weight of their grief was hard to describe. His laugh, his dreams, and his strong spirit will always stay alive in their hearts. His absence will always be felt in their home, in every moment, every celebration, and every silent prayer. Muhammad Afzaal will be deeply missed, not only by his parents but also by everyone who knew him.
